All our tutors are professional jewellers who exhibit and sell their work widely. Their diverse areas of design expertise and training ensures that we are able to offer classes that are grounded by a strong technical knowledge balanced with creative expression.
A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Lisa also has Masters in Fine Art in Metalwork and Jewellery Design (outstanding distinction) from Sheffield Hallam University. She has exhibited extensively throughout Scotland, including the Open Eye Art Gallery, An Talla Solais, Craft Scotland, Visual Arts Scotland, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Gracefield Art Centre as well as internationally including Hong Kong Design Centre and at the Buda Contemporary Jewellery Exhibition Melbourne Australia.
Drawing and Painting are important to the creation of Lisa’s jewellery and objects she designs. Drawn to the urban environment she lives within, and the rural landscapes of Scotland she wanders through. Through these journeys she gathers the marks, textures, lines, and patterns that remain within these landscapes. Her studio practice involves traditional silversmithing techniques, alongside her contemporary approaches to expressive enamelling using industrial and vitreous enamels she create painterly and sensitive surfaces, which she applies to her vessels and pieces of jewellery reflecting the hinterlands that she is inspired by.
Graduating in 2011 with a 1st class Honour Degree from Duncan of Jordanstone. As a practicing jeweller she has exhibited at local, national at a international level with the Dovecot Studios, Fife Contemporary Arts and Craft, An Talla Solais, Craft Scotland and at the Edinburgh Iranian Festival. Specialising in the contemporary application of vitreous enamel allows Jessica to experiment with colour and pattern within a jewellery making context. Combining previous training in textiles and floristry, surface design and colour has always been an integral aspect of Jessica’s collections of work. These creative influences are reflected within her pieces.
